Information (Standard Features)
High monthly bandwidth / data transfer limts
Each time your website is accessed data is transferred across the Internet,
and our transfer limits are one of the most generous around. Your account is
allocated a high bandwidth allowance per month, and less than 1% of our
customers exceed this. If you require hosting for a larger site that you
know would be exceeding the limits of our current packages, we can easily
accommodate you and will be happy to arrange a custom price for you. Custom
hosting accounts are available for up to 1 Terabyte per month (1000Gb) of
data transfer. Please contact us for details. Data transfer can be monitored
in real-time via your control panel. Should you exceed your limit you will
also automatically be advised of this via an e-mail. Occasional slight
exceeding of your limit may be ignored, but if this appears to be abused
then you will be asked to upgrade to the most appropriate package that
reflects your bandwidth usage or charged for your excess usage.
Unlimited auto responders
Auto responders reply to incoming email instantly and automatically. You can
set up an unlimited number of auto responders from within your control
panel. This is handled by the very popular Majordomo program
Unlimited email addresses
Configure as many email addresses at each of your domain name(s) as
required. Mail to any address can be sent either to a POP3 mailbox supplied
by us or forwarded to an existing email address elsewhere. Mail sent to an
address for which you have not configured a specific destination can be sent
to a default location.
Unlimited Mailing Lists
Mailing lists enable single messages to be delivered to multiple recipients
in an organisation. An unlimited number of email lists can be created on
your account. Mailing Lists are commonly used to circulate topic
discussions. A mailing list includes a set list of members. Whenever a list
member post an email message to the mailing list email address, that email
message is distributed to all list members.
Online Support
Centre
We provide you with a complete online support centre for frequently
asked questions about your account and full documentation. Any further
questions you may have can be answered by our support staff via e-mail or
telephone if required.
Hosting on Linux Servers
A Linux (Unix) virtual server provides a robust and stable hosting
platform ideal for the vast majority of web sites. We use Red Hat Enterprise
edition on all of our servers for superior performance & reliability.
Sub-domains
Subdomains allow you to separate your hosting account into sections in the
format http://sub.yourdomain.com. All sub-domains have full CGI support, are
administered via your site control panel and their bandwidth is calculated
as part of the total domain usage. All accounts have 10 sub-domains included
as standard
RAW Logfile Access
All accounts have direct access within their webspace to their webserver
logfiles. This allows you to view details of all visitors to your site, and
also link to any other third party statistic programs that you may wish to
use
Sendmail SMTP Server
Sendmail is an SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) mail server that routes
SMTP email messages through the Internet to be stored on a mail server, such
as POP3 or IMAP. SMTP is the most common email protocol on the Internet. All
accounts have SMTP enabled on them as standard so you don't have to worry
about changing e-mail account settings if you're regularly changing ISP's
User Accounts
You can create separate accounts for each of the users of your domain. As
opposed to having to configure email aliases and routing yourself, your
users have access to their own control panel where they can configure such
items themselves, thus reducing the workload of the site administrator. You
may also assign them web space under your domain where they then get their
own FTP login details to upload their files. Users' web space is viewable in
the form http://mydomain.com/~user. Bandwidth and disk usage for user
accounts is monitored along with that of your main account
Vacation Autoresponders
Vacation Autoresponders create automated email responses that replies to
incoming email messages during times when the user is not available to check
and reply to email messages. This feature is most commonly used when a user
intends to be unavailable for an extended period of time.
Webmail
Squirrel Mail is an email client that uses IMAP to provide your email
account users with access to their email messages directly over the
Internet. This means that you can send and receive e-mail from any browser
or computer, very much like Hotmail.
Powertools - automated script installation
Powertools is a facility within our control panels that allows automated
installation of many popular scripts after being asked a few simple
questions and performing a few clicks of the mouse. No more struggling to
install and configure a forum on your account or formmail - Powertools does
it all for you! Just answer a few basic questions in the control panel and

CGI Scripting In Perl and Python
Each account you create is equipped with its own CGI directory, allowing you
to install and develop your own CGI scripts. We support the most popular CGI
scripting languages, Perl and Python.
Server Side Includes
Server Side Includes enable the addition of dynamic elements to HTML web
pages. Automatically insert dates and file information as well as calling
external programs such as hit counters.

Server Side PGP Encryption
PGP allows you to store and handle sensitive data such as credit card
information in an encrypted state. You may also encrypt email such that only
you can read it.

WAP Server Server information to people on the move via Wereless Application Protocol (WAP) enabled devices |
WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is a communications protocol that allows mobile phones and other wireless terminals to access the Internet. WAP uses an XML (eXtensible Markup Language) syntax called WML (Wireless Markup Language).
WAP webpages can only be viewed by WAP enabled mobile phones and WAP compatible web browsers. Current Web browsers such as Internet Explorer and Netscape are not yet able to view these pages. You will need to use a specially configured browser to see WML webpages.
We have installed the necessary software on our webservers to enable WML and WMLScript to be served from our web hosting accounts.
Modperl for Apache
Using mod_perl allows you to build Perl scripts into the heart of the
Apache web server for vastly increased performance over standard CGI.
The Apache/Perl integration project brings together the full power of the Perl programming language and the Apache HTTP server.
Advantages of mod_perl:

Saves the overhead of starting an external interpreter, ie the penalty of Perl start-up times

Allows you to easily do things that are more difficult or impossible in regular CGI programs, such as running sub requests

OpenSSL Secure Web
SSL is a protocol that transmits private documents through the Internet. It
creates a secure connection between a client and a server over which any
amount of data can be sent securely. SSL works by using a private key to
encrypt data transferred over the secure connection. Please note: this
feature requires that you have an IP based hosting plan
Customised Error Pages
Replace the standard uninformative error responses of your server with a
customised page of your choice. This encourages surfers to stay on your site
when an error occurs
Detailed Information (Optional Extra Features)
DNS Management
Our DNS Management facility allows you to customise or create DNS records
for your domain names. This is of use for example to point your e-mail to
your own exchange server, or to implement SPF records for your domain to
help combat spam. The control panel provides seamless management of any
domains that are mapped to your hosting account.
E-mail SPAM filtering
Unsolicited commercial email commonly referred to as SPAM is the Internet
equivalent of junk mail. Our mail servers as standard consult with some very
reliable dynamic databases around the world of know spammers such as Spamcop
and Spamhaus and will automatically refuse email sent from known
perpetrators. This reduces the amount of junk mail in your inbox and so
increases your productivity. We also offer SpamAssassin as an additional
spam filtering service which allows you to configure your own specific
requirements and filtering levels and actions for each mailbox and thus
further reduce the amount of received unsolicited mail.
E-mail anti-virus filtering
Our anti-virus filtering service automatically scans your messages and
removes any attached viruses or harmful content, for example content from
phishing sites.
IP based hosting
accounts
If you have a requirement for personal SSL on your account, you will also
require an IP address assigning to it as personal SSL cannot work without
this. This means that instead of sharing your website with other customers
all using the same IP address, your website will be assigned it's own
personal IP address and is directly accessible by just entering it into a
browser.
Personal SSL
Although we provide shared SSL access to accounts, in some cases this is not
enough, for example many shopping cart systems or more professional
solutions. In these cases, we can provide personal SSL access to your
account. SSL requires that you purchase an IP address for the account and an
SSL certificate. We can provide you with SSL certificates at heavily
discounted prices which we can fully install for you, or alternatively with
this service activated you are free to purchase an SSL certificate from
anywhere else you wish and install these yourself.
SSH access
We offer SSH access to accounts as an optional extra. Please be aware that
for security, access to this service is not automatic and will be reviewed
by a senior member of staff before granting as the vast majority of aspects
of a hosting account do not require this due to the control panel providing
much of the functionality that you will require.
